3.Weber 51010001 Q1200 Liquid Propane Grill – best portable gas grill for camping
The Weber 51010001 Q1200 gas grill looked like a small portable gas grill, but it has a very generous cooking area of 189 square inches.
The Weber Q family has many siblings, and this is one of them. The closer related Weber Q1000 is another one that is also featured as the best portable gas grill here.
In fact, in terms of features, there are more similarities than differences. Weber Q1200 is also very popular amongst campers, hikers, and tailgaters thanks to its portability, but it has competition. I will tell you more at the end of the article.
1. Excellent Grilling, Good Heat Efficiency
I know I must have said this a lot, but I wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t true, won’t I? The truth is this gas grill certainly grills fantastic T bones, sirloin steaks, corns, fish, chicken… you name it. It gives that nice searing marks, and it has enough room to cook for a max of 4 people to eat in one sitting( if the portion is small-med) or a max of 2 (if the portion is large). It also depends on the size of the meat you are cooking. Oh, the seared marks are also excellent on Weber Q1200.
The porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grates are the best to use in terms of heat energy transfer. I would say that it won’t cook for a large group of people.
I’ve also compared the amount of gas it used compared to my old Char-Broil, and it certainly beats it flat. I also love the electronic ignition feature. All you got to do is “push the button,” and you’ve got your grill up and running instantly!
In terms of portability, Weber Q1200 is easy to move and setup. Some of you might wanna invest in a Weber Q rolling cart if you want more mobility, but it’s entirely up to you.
BUT…At 31 pounds, it is certainly NOT the lightest and most portable gas grill around. The Fuego Element Portable weighs only 15 pounds, and I would say that the Fuego Element beats the Weber Q1200 flat. I would choose to bring the Fuego element instead of my hiking and camping trips as it is lighter and easy to carry around thanks to its briefcase concept design.
3. Easy To Use
One of the things that I like about Weber grills is that they are easy to use, and you don’t need to own a gas grill to learn how to use it. The push-button piezoelectric electronic ignition is one of the best things to have here. All you got to do is own one, get a propane gas tank attached to it, and play around with the control valves and start grilling!
I would say that the Weber Q1200 is a great grill if you look past the weight issue. Some won’t even mind carrying around 31 pounds of grilling equipment as long as the grilling experience is excellent. Some would even prefer it to be heavy to make them feel like they have a quality product.
The only thing I like to comment is that it is a bit expensive for a portable grill. I think this is most likely because this grill is of good quality and is made by Weber themselves.
4.Fuego Element Portable Gas Grill – best portable gas grill for RV
Element Portable is one of the best portable gas grills available on the market, and it only weighs 15 pounds. This grill comes complete with one stainless steel burner (8,000 BTU) and either a 14.1 or a 16.4 disposable LP tank.
The Element Portable is sold at about 100$. The entire grill can be folded into the size of a briefcase, and it has a silicone band that keeps it together. Other features of this portable gas grill include: shoulder strap suitable for carrying that is hands-free, folding legs that lock in place, push-button ignition, and 159 square inches of cast iron cooking space.

The fourth of the top 5 portable gas grills are the Weber Q-1000 Portable Grill. The grill has a great design, and it can fit in practically any space, as it is less than 32 inches long; however, the 7-inch lid will allow you to cook a whole chicken.

9.Coleman RoadTrip LXE Propane Grill
Coleman has created a product which requires the best of cooking and portability skill and combined it into one amazing grill that can go virtually everywhere you would like to take it. So it perfect for picnics, or excursions and RV camping and tailgate parties.
For a portable grill, you’d be quite surprised by exactly how large the cooking surface is. It is 285 square inches, but for those people who require just a little help picturing just how much room that’s, think of it this way – The grill is 24 Broad, and 12 deep. That’s more than enough room to cook food for a guest or two, along with a family of four.
As it pertains to what wonders you’ll be able to create with this, this is one of the very competent portable grills available on the market. Several characteristics of the LXE work in combination to let you get the most out of your meals with a single appliance that is cooking, whether it is steak time or breakfast time.
Two really strong burners generate up to 10,000 BTU’s each to distribution and fast cooking. Even heat Each burner is controlled independently, allowing for different temperatures on every side of the cooking place that was huge. It can certainly supply enough heat to sear chicken and steaks flawlessly.
Besides, I believe that compared to other portable grills, the Coleman RoadTrip LXE is a lot more effective at cooking for more than several individuals. This is the closest it is possible to get to truly have a full-size grill that can certainly go with you.
10.Cuisinart CGG-180T Petit Gourmet Portable Tabletop Gas Grill

12.Broil King 900214 Porta-Chef Propane Portable Gas Grill
The Broil King 900214 Porta-Chef Propane Portable Gas Grill is probably one of Broil king’s best products.
This is perfect for those who want to bring a powerful gas grill to camping trips or tailgating, but not one that is too heavy that will break your back.
You should also know that this gas grill is not the most portable gas grill around as it does carry a bit of weight even when it is called a portable gas grill.
So you might be wondering why a portable grill can be so heavy?
Well, for starters, this model is not your cheap thin metal constructed portable grill like some other grills on the market. It is tough looking and sturdy, looking to last a while. It is heavy but NOT VERY HEAVY. It is still within the weight range of other portable grills in the market.
Is it easy to setup?
It is also really easy to use and setup. You’ll be pleased to know that this is a porcelain-enameled cooking grill. So expect good heat efficiency and searing grill marks on your steaks and chicken fillets! It also heats up quickly, so be careful not to burn your food.
The only thing you need to be aware of is that this grill uses a single long burner to heat the entire cooking area. So if that burner fails, it won’t work.
What I Like About This Grill
1. Cooks Fast and Real Hot!
With 14,000 BTUs of total output, the Porta-Chef S certainly kills it! It grills your meat to perfection and gives that delightful looking seared marks in your steak. Be careful of the Porta-Chef S. It definitely gets hot real quick and is also very efficient, surprisingly.
The grill lid closes well and traps heat. This ensures your meals cook fast, but also you have got to be careful of getting them overcooked. The built-in temperature tells you when things get hot quickly, and I’ve tested its accuracy, and I can say that this thing works damn well.
2. Sturdy Construction and Quality Materials
Like I said earlier, the Porta-Chef is portable but still on the heavy side. But I can tell you. This thing is solid looking. The stainless steel look not only gives it a professional look, but together with its four legs, you wouldn’t even think that it is a portable grill, but in fact, it is. Curious about the weight? It is about 22 pounds. As for the materials, if you’ve read through the features, it is made of mostly stainless steel, but it is certainly not those that are thick and heavy; otherwise, you wouldn’t call it a portable gas grill anymore.
What I Think Could Be Done To Improve It
1. Make It Lighter
The reason why Weber Q100 is still my favorite portable grill is that it is lightweight, grills well, and is great looking. I think Broil King should think of making this grill lighter. I’m not sure what can be done, although I do think that you sacrifice that part for a quality portable grill.
2. A Sideburner Perhaps?
The Porta-Chef S comes with a single side burner, which is a good thing to cook, but the only problem is, I cannot have one part of my grill where it can grill just a bit slower. A side burner would be a good addition to this model, in my opinion.
Benefits of Propane Gas Grills
Not everybody has the luxury of having the required space for a big grill. A portable gas grill is an excellent way to cook food fast and easily wherever you’re.
Grill and barbecue enthusiasts love the propane gas grill for several reasons. Aside from being faster than a charcoal grill, it is also very easy to operate.
While a natural gas grill is noticeably more practical if you hate running out of gas when you’re in the middle of cooking something, the best thing about propane grills is you can carry it with you since it is designed to be portable and handy.
No More Need for Briquettes
If you’re into grilling, you’re probably familiar with charcoal briquettes. What you usually do is purchase them separately, and they put them to your grill. You need an accelerant like liquid butane to light them up. The most tedious task of charcoal grilling is you have to clean out the mess you made after cooking. With propane gas grills, no more need to purchase, prepare, and clean charcoal residues and waste after the grill.
The thermostat and Temperature Control
Another thing to like about the propane grill is the temperature control feature. You will not see this feature from electric and charcoal grills. It allows you to have complete control of the heat to produce the best quality and best-tasting food without burnt parts or sections.
Consistent and Identical Taste
The heating mechanism coming from propane gas is great because it cooks food quite evenly. It means that the flavor is kept intact. When the flavor is intact, you get to retain the nutrients. And most of all, you don’t get to eat carcinogens found in burnt food subjected to the charcoal grill.
In general, choosing the right type of grill depends primarily on your needs and preference. There may be lots of advantages that come with propane grills, but your needs may be well suited with a larger charcoal grill.
If you’re not fond of barbecue and steaks outside, you might as well stick to indoor electric grills. But in the end, the main point of discussion here is to identify which of the many types is the most practical for a typical grill enthusiast and suffice to say. The propane gas grill is definitely on top of the list.
